I wanted a collapsible twig stove to take with me on small outings and also to keep as part of my everyday carry (EDC). I looked around the internet and saw some really cool designs and builds. I really couldn’t justify spending $80 so I thought to myself I’d just have to build one.

I started out with my morning coffee. I grabbed some thin cardboard, a pen, and a straight edge. I decided the size I wanted and cut it all out. This is the fun part for me. I like to go from concept to design.

Next I went to the thrift store and found this metal file box. I transferred the pattern and cut the pieces out with a combination of tin snips and a cut off disc for my rotary tool. After it was all cut out I put some ventilation on the sides. Of course I had to make a leather pouch to stow it away as not to get other things covered in ash. I’m thinking of polishing up this prototype and selling a few.
